Rewires & New Construction in Longview TX in Tyler, Longview & East Texas
A rewire is the most invasive electrical job a house can get — and in East Texas, plenty of houses have earned one. The century-old homes in Tyler's Azalea District still hide knob-and-tube behind plaster. Houses built in the late 60s and early 70s across Longview and Smith County often carry aluminum branch wiring, which loosens at connections over time and is a documented fire risk. And thousands of homes in between are running on cloth-insulated copper that's brittle, undersized, and ungrounded.
We do rewires the way they should be done: a room-by-room plan agreed up front, walls opened only where they must be, new grounded circuits throughout, and a new panel to anchor it all when the old one can't carry the load. The result is a house that's insurable, sellable, and safe — with every circuit labeled before we leave. If your home's wiring is sound but the devices are the problem, our redevice service is the lighter-touch option, and we'll tell you honestly which one your house actually needs.
On the new-construction side, we run full rough-in and trim packages for custom homes, additions, and major remodels — built around your GC's schedule, inspection-ready at every stage. We're the crew that shows up when the framers finish and doesn't hold up the drywall.
Signs it's time
- Knob-and-tube or cloth-insulated wiring in the attic
- Aluminum branch wiring (common in late-60s/70s homes)
- An insurer asking questions about your wiring before renewal
- Frequent breaker trips, flickering, or warm switch plates
- Two-prong outlets and no grounding throughout the house
- A remodel or addition that opens the walls anyway
Every wire,
every device.
Whether we're tearing out 60-year-old knob-and-tube or wiring a brand-new build from scratch, the standard is the same: clean runs, labeled circuits, no shortcuts.

Questions we
hear a lot.
Straight answers about rewires & new construction in longview tx — and if yours isn't here, call and ask. A real person picks up.
Do I have to move out during a whole-home rewire?
Usually not. We stage the work room by room and keep power on in the areas where you're living. There are noisy, dusty days — we won't pretend otherwise — but most families stay in the house for the duration.
How long does a whole-home rewire take?
Most single-family rewires run one to two weeks depending on size, attic and crawlspace access, and how much of the house is plaster versus drywall. After we walk your home, we give you a written price and a schedule — and we keep both.
My house has aluminum wiring. Does all of it have to go?
Not always. Full replacement is the gold standard, but code-approved remediation (like properly installed connectors at every device) is a legitimate middle path for some homes and budgets. We'll lay out both options with real numbers after we see what you have.
Will a rewire help with insurance?
Often dramatically. Insurers in Texas increasingly decline or surcharge homes with knob-and-tube, aluminum branch wiring, or fuse panels. A documented, permitted rewire removes those flags — and we provide the documentation. If your insurer needs test results, we also do megohmmeter testing for insurance claims.
Can you wire my new custom home?
Yes — rough-in to final trim, coordinated with your builder's schedule. We'll also flag the things worth deciding early: EV charger capacity, generator provisions, and shop feeds are all far cheaper to plan at rough-in than to retrofit later.

3 weeks agoI can’t say enough good things about Mark with Chosen 1 Electric. I called him with an immediate need, and he was at my location within 15 minutes. This wasn’t a typical electrical job, and there were several moving parts that had to be coordinated, but Mark stayed the entire time and helped troubleshoot while we worked to get everything in place. What impressed me most was his willingness to jump in and help with things that weren’t even part of his job. He was incredibly patient, professional, and kind throughout the process. When everything was finally ready for him to do his portion of the work, he had it completed in less than five minutes. It’s rare to find someone who is not only knowledgeable and efficient but also genuinely cares about helping their customers. I will absolutely use Mark and Chosen 1 Electric again in the future, and I will gladly refer any customers, friends, or family who need electrical work done. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
