New Electrical Services in Longview TX in Tyler, Longview & East Texas
Bringing power to a property is one of those jobs where the electrical work is only half the battle — the other half is paperwork, utility coordination, and sequencing. East Texas properties sit in a patchwork of providers, from city utilities around Tyler and Longview to the rural electric co-ops that serve everything in between, and each has its own requirements for meter bases, clearances, and trench specs. We've worked with all of them, and we run that coordination so you don't have to.
On the ground, the work splits into two paths. Underground service means trenching, schedule-rated conduit, and a clean run from the transformer to your meter — invisible, storm-proof, and what we recommend for most new construction. Overhead service means a properly built weatherhead, mast, and service drop. Either way we install the meter base, set the disconnect, and tie into your panel — or set a new one — so the whole service is one crew's responsibility, not three contractors pointing at each other.
We also handle temporary construction poles for new builds, multi-structure properties that need power split between a house and a shop or barn, and service upgrades from 100A to 200A to 400A when a property outgrows its original feed. Everything is permit-pulled and inspection-ready, because the utility won't energize a service that isn't.
Signs it's time
- Building a new home or shop on raw land
- Buying property that's never had power brought in
- Adding a second structure that needs its own feed
- An overhead service you want moved underground
- A service drop damaged by storms or trees
- A property whose existing service can't carry new load

every device.

Questions we
hear a lot.
Straight answers about new electrical services in longview tx — and if yours isn't here, call and ask. A real person picks up.
Underground or overhead — which should I choose?
Underground costs more up front but wins long term in East Texas: no storm damage, no tree limbs on the line, nothing to look at. Overhead is faster and cheaper to install and easier to modify later. We'll walk your property and give you a straight recommendation along with a written price for both if you want to compare.
Do you deal with the utility company, or do I?
We do. We've coordinated services with the city utilities and the rural co-ops across Smith, Gregg, Upshur, and Wood counties, and we know what each one wants to see before they'll set a meter. You make one call — to us — and we handle the rest.
How long does it take to get a new service energized?
Our portion — trenching, conduit, meter base, panel — is typically days, not weeks. The variable is the utility's queue for inspections and meter sets, which we can't control but do stay on top of. We'll give you an honest timeline up front and keep you posted as the utility schedules.
Can you set up temporary power for construction?
Yes — temporary construction poles (T-poles) are routine for us. We set the pole, the utility energizes it, and your trades have power for the duration of the build. When the structure is ready, we install the permanent service and the T-pole comes out.
What size service do I need?
It comes down to a load calculation, not a guess. A typical home runs well on 200A; add a shop with welders, an EV charger, or a future pool and the math changes. We run the load calc as part of the site visit so the service you pay for matches the way you'll actually use the property.

3 weeks agoI can’t say enough good things about Mark with Chosen 1 Electric. I called him with an immediate need, and he was at my location within 15 minutes. This wasn’t a typical electrical job, and there were several moving parts that had to be coordinated, but Mark stayed the entire time and helped troubleshoot while we worked to get everything in place. What impressed me most was his willingness to jump in and help with things that weren’t even part of his job. He was incredibly patient, professional, and kind throughout the process. When everything was finally ready for him to do his portion of the work, he had it completed in less than five minutes. It’s rare to find someone who is not only knowledgeable and efficient but also genuinely cares about helping their customers. I will absolutely use Mark and Chosen 1 Electric again in the future, and I will gladly refer any customers, friends, or family who need electrical work done. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
